My guess 8/56 with the salary starting in the 5.5 range and going up.
This gives the blues a long term asset and it gives Pie what he wanted an AAV with a 7 in front.
Get it done Army! |

agree 8yr/56m
i dont think AP27 is worth that money yet would prefer 2 yr deal. lot of dollars tied up on D in STL for the next 1/2 decade. Shattenkirk odd man out in a few years. |

that was one of the most perplexing Avs trade ever....
i have no clue what Sherman was thinking when he traded Shattenkirk... not to mention accepting the return of extremely over-rated and useless Erik Johnson.
surprising that he still has a job. |

Honestly, what would it take (from a Blues fan maybe) to pry Pietrangelo out from St. Louis?
If I'm Ottawa (and I am), I have no problem offering a defenseman like Cowen along with a young prospect/player (like Stone or Conacher or even Greening) along with a mid level pick.
What about other teams? |

I think it would take more to get it done, and that at least 20 other teams would be willing to give that too.

I don't see this at all, but I could be wrong. It just seems to me that if Army was going to give Petro and his agent exactly what he was asking for months ago, the deal would have been done months ago.
I think it will be one of two things - either a max deal at 8 years, $50M ($6.25 AAV) or a 2 year bridge deal for $9.75M. The bridge deal would likely be $4.25M in year 1 and $5.5M in year 2, the thought being that after a good showing this upcoming season, they can point to the fact that he will be the highest paid player on the team next year. Until they sign Hank in the offseason, that is!

No, sorry.
Shattenkirk will not be the odd man out. He will be needed and at his current salary he is going to be a steal for the length of his contract. |

Since you're dreaming, how about Bobby Ryan, Cory Conacher, Jared Cowen and Cody Ceci for Pietrangelo and Chris Stewart.
You know what, I still wouldn't make that deal. |
